Lake Anna Private Aids to Navigation (PATONS)
A number of PATONS (Private Aids to Navigation aka Hazard Buoys) have been placed around Lake Anna, on both the public side and the private side. These buoys were authorized under a permit to the Navigation Sub-committee (NAVSUBCOM) of the Lake Anna Advisory Commission (LAAC) and were funded by the Lake Anna Civic Association (LACA). Division 8 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary conducts verifications of the location of buoys.
Thanks to a grant from the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety & Clean Water, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 87 (Lake Anna) has produced an online map of Lake Anna, showing the known and/or marked hazards. The maps also show other important Lake features and list the latitudes and longitudes of these hazards and features. There is no need to deal with outdated paper maps.
Flotilla 87 (Lake Anna) and Blue Creek Technology have teamed up to give you information you can use to navigate the waters of Lake Anna more safely. Wondered where that creek was? No problem! Heard about a shallow spot? We've got you covered! Need a paper map? Just print out a PDF copy from the download section. Have a GPS and wish you could download the information for when you're out on the water? Try it here!
While every effort has been made to make the maps as accurate as possible, they do not show every potential hazard or feature. Boaters should not depend on these maps as their only navigation tool. The locations of the hazards and other features have been provided by third parties. The hazards buoys were located and marked by the Lake Anna Advisory Committee.
